Yes again sports fans it is time again for Mish's Household Tip of the Week!

Newcommers have missed out on past tips involving...

How NOT to stain a deck
Why it matters to seal the driveway before painting the porch
Exploding baked potatoes
Exploding beer cans
How to catch raccoons
What to watch out for when transporting opossums
Why one should NOT put acorns into chimneas
Why NOT to use regular dishwashing detergent in an automatic dishwasher
And probably a half dozen other fine tips to enlighten the uninformed

In fact many probably hate this board (justifiably so I might add) and lurk specifically waiting for more useful tips. The long wait is over!

Today's feature is on blenders.
Specifically this one:
kohls.com

Now we have a white one not that ugly red one but I doubt it matters.
Today's tip is simple:
DO NOT BUY THAT BLENDER

Bear in mind I am blaming the wife for this(she bought the damn thing), and just as I blamed her for exploding acorns blasting out of the chimnea I am blaming her for this episode. She is not here to defend herself so I can easily get away with this. ggg
At any rate there are several "features" to this blender that are not advertized (with reason).

#1) The lid does not seal tightly. Unless you press tightly and hold on to that lid stuff will come squirting out the top. Lesson learned multiple times. I now force hold that lid on while blending every time.

#2) The bottom leaks. No matter how tightly you screw on that bottom it leaks. Make a jar of frozen Tom Collin's as I am prone to do on weekends and you better set the damn thing in the sink (or drink a lot faster) because stuff will leak out the base. 100% guaranteed. Forget this just once (or have the wife move the blender out of the sink and on to the counter) and you will be cleaning up sticky sap all over the floor as it drips off the counter and down the sides of the cabinets.

Now I have lived with those problems for quite some time but tonight that top was particularly leaky. I made a batch of tom collins' tonight and experienced yet another brand new problem

3) I finished blending, removed the top to look at the results to make sure it was blended enough and without pressing any buttons (the buttons really are heavy duty and one can not just lightly touch one and turn it or), but.... the damn thing started blending with a whole batch of tom collins in it without the lid on. It decided to turn itself on in other words, and not exactly at the most opportune time. I will leave the results to your imagination.

So... Mish's household top of the week is to NOT buy this Osterizer Blender
kohls.com

And as a safety precaution I would advise staying away from that brand of items in general.

This concludes yet another Mish's Household tip of the week.
Newcommers are advised not to expect a weekly tip but rather tips will come as lessons are learned (usually the hard way).
