I see that his words were illicitly taped by some craven creationist and then disseminated without his permission ...

Oh, I see -- so you think science is best practiced or discussed behind closed doors, with outsiders barred, and with no record of the proceedings -- is that it?

What is said when scientists discuss evolution that can't stand the light of day? Patterson said he wanted to discuss "problems and difficulties" with evolution. What "context" is necessary to understand that?

When you teach evolution in a biology class do you lock the door and forbid students to tape what you say? Do you introduce your students to Darwin? If you do, do you discuss this passage from "The Origin of Species"?

"Why then is not every geological formation and every stratum full of such intermediate links? Geology assuredly does not reveal any such finely-graduated organic chain; and this, perhaps, is the most obvious and serious objection which can be urged against the theory."

Do we need a "context" to understand that? What part of it isn't clear?

BTW, if you ever want to step into my church, you needn't worry about being barred or having your tape recorder confiscated. You will be welcomed to hear everything that is said about the Lord and His works.
