Jay,
This, on your blog, is Marc Faber's portfolio?
"I found Marc’s read on what is and what must be much more logical. He commented that he holds most of his goodies in Euro and US denominated bonds, have some Asian real estate sprinkled from Thailand to New Zealand, criss-crossing Indonesia and Vietnam. He has a bit of Asian equities, and also gold and silver, just in case."
Here he is a dollar bull:

He is holding bonds? IOUs written by Fiat money printers? I do not have any more faith in EURO than USD
The other thesis, that Asia will survive any US crash, is an interesting one, as Asia has still not recovered from their crisis.
As for owning Asian real estate, the last time I was in Bali, under Indonesian law foreigners cannot own, only lease, land. Even an Indonesian corp set up by foreigners that owns land needs Indonesian partners. I suppose a Fortune 500 company might be different, but that is not a play for individuals.
Vietnam is a bit different on land as I believe foreigners can own, if it isn't sealed off due to bird flu contamination.
I find his selection interesting.
I'll take Don Coxe's portfolio of undervalued 'assets in the ground' with a heavy emphasis on energy, becoming more expensive to explore for now, and reserves in the ground undervalued. I may sell my house and rent but I'll still need energy.
