This may be partly due to gold buying in Europe and Asia. If the yen and euro are strong there is less of a reason to buy gold and gold investments. Gold as an investment has a lot more popularity in general outside the U.S.
This is consistent with my point that the SAs should rally on European buying if the Euro is weak. Just something to watch. The Euro and gold should begin to decouple here.
