Bubba, if Mandariners are learning English, why should Brazilians bother to learn Mandarin? The Brazilians and Mandariners could use English to talk to each other. Heck, like right now - look, both you and ElM can read this. You lucky people. See the excellent things you can read in English. AND, the English speakers have the money and to get it, you need to talk to them.

Add up all the assets in the world owned by people able to speak English and it's 80% of the total value in the world. Or just considering money, the liquid asset, it's 95%. Okay, it's true I made up those numbers and they might be inaccurate, but of the world's money, Brazilians own about 0.5% and Mandariners about 2%. Which is also a wild guess.

So, to get the money, most people are better to learn the language of money, which is ... yes, American.
