At the beginning i think it was primarily tribal and baath control. Zarquawi supplied some muscle. Without US presence trianglites will have to decide whether they want folks who want a taliban govt to run the show. I bet no which argues for an intra-sunni civil war. And since this is still all about the WOT, we do have a dog even in that fight. Those tribal leaders are not islamic fanatics for the most part as i understand it. But whether they are strong enough to defeat them is an open question. mike
PS The election is going to be ugly but necessary as possibly will be the US pull back to allow the inevitable fight.
