I think it is residual anti- semitism, in many cases. Marcos does not care that Israel came to birth in the wake of the Holocaust, that there were numerous displaced persons rescued from the camps, with nowhere to go amidst all the destruction. He doesn't care that the main wave of Jewish immigrants in the '30s were German, fleeing Hitler, and unable to get into America or Britain. He blandly speaks of Jews as the one's who got on ships, ignoring that Arab immigration was far higher, regardless of whether it was overland or over water, implying that it was just a bunch of "colonialists" sailing to Haifa, rather than a bunch of desperate people running for their lives. Dog bites man, man kicks cat. See anything odd with that?
