If your going to have a redistributionist program than it should be means tested, based on the means of the person after retirement. If I won a lottery at 65 I would hardly need to be subsidized by the government.

Actually in the long run the bigger problem is Medicare.

Some people make the means argument. Doesn't matter, the point is you are arguing with the PIA (+AIME part) formula. Please make that clear. Please ask Bush to make that clear. I would hardly argue that 90/32/15 with the associated break points is in anyway optimal, so I have no problem with changing it. But please be honest about the issue. And state clearly that the wealthy should not be unfairly subsidizing the poor as the current system has for many years. State that this is why SS needs reforming.

I claim the main reason it needs reforming (by a good mile) is the accounting scam regarding SS funds and the general fund. Why you maintain that this is nonexistent is utterly beyond me.
