Weizmann wanted the -staat 'as jewish as England is english', there's a fairly exclusive sound to that, more than a little ominous given an indigenous population with their own ideas, yet Weizmann was seen as centrist, there were many to the right of him ... yes there were moderates, there was a full spectrum, all sorts of proposals, some taking indigenous needs and desires into consideration, and others not at all ... from the start it was clear to all who toured the land that natives absolutely did not want to be dominated by foreigners in their own land, so violence was obviously inherent in the concept, and that makes it, i submit, whacked
Possibly if it had developed in less exclusivist manner, and gradually, giving natives time to adjust and reducing direct threat to them, it might have worked out better ... but now, you've got a situation where native dispossessed can look through a fence at land on which they were born and raised, while foreigners have legal right to that land, based on legislation regarding their respective religio-ethnic status, and this absolutely screams whack-oh
