Europe became very quickly as safe for jews as any other democracy, probably safer than a 'jewish homeland' planted on soil of a competing religion

And culturally most jews are quite european. Jewish values are more western and would have fit much better in europe then they do in the ME. It's easy to understand Jews wanting to get the heck out of europe after WWII however. A prosperous Jewish state in europe would have benefited the continent as well.
