>>For some reason MS keeps incorporating them into their product.

That's because they have to keep advancing their product and give their internal engineering teams some satisfaction at participation in product development. However, they continue to benefit from allowing Citrix to "front-run" them by several years in the development cycle, purposely delaying incorporation of features in their server product so Citrix can benefit from the development they do. Every time Citrix sells a seat, they generate Windows server (and app) revenue for Microsoft, at no marketing cost to Microsoft. Plus Citrix is providing front-line support, which saves Microsoft some of the cost of supporting customers. It's a win-win for both companies.

Much to everyone's surprise (except those who understand the symbiotic relationship between MSFT and CTXS), Microsoft suddenly delayed "Bear Paw", the internal name for their next big Terminal Services upgrade from release this year to the next major release of Windows server, not expected until 2007. That lets Citrix further entrench themselves in the enterprise, continues to generate revenues for Microsoft, and allows Citrix to continue to enhance their product offerings.

This is one of the few instances of a company that sleeps with the 800lb gorilla and doesn't get crushed. Meanwhile, Citrix continues to be a huge cash cow.... and a poster child for 5-fingered corporate governance and why executive options should be expensed.
