I doubt it. The development people in Redmond have long wanted to remove Citrix from the picture, but higher powers who see the bigger picture have long prevailed.

True. the partners are fronting support for both Microsoft and Citrix, and really have to in order to make those product lines profitable at the reseller level. Citrix support is just another level of support that insulates Microsoft. The bigger economic incentive for Microsoft is the marketing function that Citrix is providing that directly generates revenues for Mr. Softie.

It's been that way for a long time, and I agree that that as long as the mutually beneficial dynamics remains, especially those benefiting Microsoft, there's no reason to expect it to change.
