The most common learning was that if you react to the terrorists, they had won. Your over-reaction to their isolated events was their goal. That's what the "experts" and the government were saying. So the solution was to not get emotional, to do everything you could to defend yourself, and to do the police work to get the bad guys. Cold, efficient, civilized. And it was effective. It's about the opposite of the Bush reaction. But the point was that the frequency of attacks was probably 20 times what is happening today. Somehow we survived. John
