This market is beginning to take on the look of a decade I do remember a bit. From 1968 to 1982 the Dow was relatively sideways. Some things from that period do remind me of the current situation.. a foreign war with increasing domestic debate and conflict. The old argument back then was about "guns and butter". Could we support an expensive war and have prosperity at home? Here's how it played out:

I also think the Iraq elections will be a factor for the next couple of weeks. It is not unlikely we will get more grim news.
And this current market is one of the reasons I still prefer day trading to position trades or investing. I do have some longer term holdings in high yield dividend producers. But other than that, primarily its intraday moves.
