So I'm most definitely not a sellout when it comes to my values. I have pretty well ossified values that guide most of my political decisions. Those values don't change. Political party's and their values change with the wind. If one party advocates my values, then I vote for them, regardless of whether they are red or blue.

Yes, I can see what you are saying.......and I agree.......you did not vote with your wallet in this last election. I wish more Americans had been as objective.

However, none of that makes me doubt the soundness of our society and its superiority to the shambles of the Muslim Fundamentalists' culture, who's most (in)famous invention of the last few centuries has been terrorism.

I do not share your optimism if for no other reason than because its Christian fundamentalists who are driving this war on terrorism. And I am not clear how sound that makes this society.

As such, I am all for striking an aggressive posture towards eliminating this virulent culture in all ways possible. Bush strikes the right pose, but then botches the execution. That is where I fault him the most.

We talked earlier about solidarity. Let me give you another example of why solidarity is a joke to me. I was watching the tube tonite while at the gym. Sean Hannity of Fox had on some CBS commentator on......his last name is Schieffer. Hannity was complaining that Sen. Kennedy was on Schieffer's show. I was shocked that Hannity would even bring up such an issue let alone make it an accusation. And then, much to my utter amazement........Schieffer began to defend his invitation of Kennedy by pointing out that he has more GOPers on his show than Dem. and that Kennedy was an important person in the Dem. party. I was speechless. How can this be happening in the land of the free and home of the free press? When did things change? Hannity went on to complain that he felt Dan Rather was not contrite enough over his Air NG gaffe bla bla bla.......and asked what CBS thought about that 'problem'.

First, Hannity is a short distance from the WH. How dare he criticize the guests and programming of another media outlet in this manner. Secondly, it was as if Schieffer had been called up in front of a psuedo WH........Hannity acted as if he was in a position to make or break CBS. And finally, when has a network had to defend its choice of political guests? Is this an example of free speech in action? I think not.

So when you discuss "the soundness of our society and its superiority", I have to repeat......are you sure because I am not so sure. In fact, I am very worried about the state of the union. And I do not want to be in solidarity with the Hannities and Cheneys of the world......too me, they are not much better than white collar thugs. I can compromise but not that far.
