Thomas; The souls exchange is mine, and the incantation was in a short science fiction book about 20 years ago.
Kids are allowed to make their own decisions about faiths. I only instill the common sense virtues, do not steal, do not adulter, do not covet, etc, and omit the god ones. Religion have carried both the common sense and the religious rules, all under one banner. In a non theistic society, we all must bear this burden, and not steal, not covet etc. My kids are a lot more ethical that those of religous people I know, who instill nothing. As the old RC warriors used to say, "give me the child and I will own the man". I prefer me and my kids(3) not to be owned by any religion, and so I instill the good non religious virtues in my kids, and I also make them aware of others propensity for evil so they go forth armed, not with faith, but street smarts. You cannot get my kids to steal, they know it is wrong. Who knows what they will do as adults, but I am hopeful.

keep trying, perhaps I will unconvert you, as you must have an open mind?

Bill
