That's the brave new moral calculus - nobody gives a damn when Arabs or Africans do the killing. Americans or Israelis, different story. One Arab killed by an Israeli equals a thousand Arabs killed by other Arabs, as far as outrage goes. Over 100,000 peole died in Algeria since 1990, how much did you hear about it?

You are right on this. I'd argue with the ratio (1K/1). I don't mind holding my own country to a higher standard however. I like living here, and want to ensure that the country stays a nice place to live. That includes being concerned with how America treats other countries and other people. I also enjoy international travel, so I am concerned with how foreigners view Americans as well. We are not universally loved unfortunately.
