I enjoy your posts as well. Congrats on the grandkids.

Since I've lived in foreign countries, I really do treasure both the genetic and cultural diversity on the planet. Half of me wants to back the notion that any human should be able to live anywhere (and in peace and security) of their choosing and marry anyone of their choosing, to hell with local laws. I vote to back that anytime I can (which BTW is partly why I vote more Dem then Rep these days).

It would make me absolutely sick however, if I knew that in the far distant future, all our descendents were genetically just one (or a very few) mix, and along with only a single culture. So on an individual basis I strongly back the intermarriage and interliving rights of all people, just hope it does not result in a great loss in the long term. BTW, I find genetic mixes attractive, which psychologists claim there is an explanation for, we are attracted to the norm. Vacation in the Jamaica and you'll see what I mean <g>
