dougSF30 I think the dual-core Prescott should perform worse than single-core in single-threaded operations. According to the Prescott descriptions, single-core Prescott has pretty aggressive speculative prefetching. That sort of thing helps to make up for the high speed/low IPC/long pipeline architecture. But a dual-core product will not be able to have the same volume of prefetching at all, leading to worse performance. Doing otherwise will saturate the memory bus too much.
