They sure are making a big stink about the valuation of the DM.
Things seemed to be doing OK in Gemany in FEB 85, when the DM was 4.0 to 3.90 back then. Today I guess it has to do with the convergence
to the expected change to the Euro Dollar. I think I'll wait a little while longer until my next trip to Germany. I'd like to see 2:1 before I consider my next trip.
When I arrived in Germany in Feb. 85, the first thing I did was exchange in $6000. for DM's. at DM 3.92... I put those DM's under my mattress, by Dec 85 the DM was close to 2.0, and I had $12,000. When I arrived I knew it would not stay that High for long, having followed the DM, when I was there in 1980 -81.
I told the whole crew I went over with in Feb. 85, to buy now, only one did. We were happy campers, he always paid for my beer. (hic)
How else could I afford to attend Formula One Races around Europe for 5 years? SPA, Hockenheim, Monaco, Hungry, not to mention the 24hrs Du LeMans.
Any time you want to trade places let me know, I'm getting pretty tired of the ole American Same-0 Same-O, Micky-D's on every corner, 7-Elevens, Malls, ect. Drop me by parachute "anywhere" in Germany, and I'll give you back a picture worth Framing.
