Ephud:

You must have poor eyesight or a low reading comprehension to continue to claim that a 512 way supercomputer can not be faster than a single CPU of the same speed. SGI makes a supercomputer using 1.7GHz I2/9MBs with quad channel PC3200. It is much faster than a single 1.7GHz Celeron P4 400 with single channel PC133 doing Open Office Writer, Divx encoding or compiling a program (gcc -j1) on Linux. It is even faster at SPECint/fp you quote so much.

Even when using the same CPU core, a 2P Xeon P4 2.4G/533 512KB L2 1MB L3 with E7505, dual channel PC2100 and AGP (Tyan S2668AN) is faster than a Celeron P4 2.4/400 128KB L2 on a 845 with single channel PC133 (Intel DB845HV) on a game like Quake 3 or any office app like Lotus 123 (A P4 2.4E/533 would be even slower as the core would only run at 1.8GHz on a 400FSB (A P4 2.4E/800 runs at 1.2GHz on same board)).

So wrong again. Like most of the time.

Pete
