Elmer's extra cost of not more than $10 is a bit low, I think. For Intel dual core GM may drop to as low as 70%-80% from single cores 90%.

I've run some numbers and here's what I get.

Assuming excellent yields (Note to Petz: this is just an assumption and I make no claims that it is true)

P4 110mm2 yield on a 300mm wafer would be ~428 GDPW. @~$2400 per wafer that would be ~$5.60 die cost.

Smithfield at 2X the die size (just a guess) yield would be ~156 GDPW. @~$2400 per wafer that would be $15.38 die cost. Assembly is little different and test may be more but it's chump change. So Perhaps my $10 estimate was pretty close, no?
