For anyone interested in a pretty good description of what life-cycle or target-date funds are all about, check out this article:

This goes back to our discussion about what types of investments should be allowed in any social security personal account. I would advocate these life-cycle funds as one way to limit gambling, and also to limit market risk to what is age appropriate.
