It does not appear that you've fully investigated what you do have and what you don't have, nor the full scope of what's available at extra cost.

"I had access to a search function that searched all threads. While this search was not as comprehensive as the current function (at least that's what I'm being sold) and it was "buggy", it was very useful. This has been taken away"

You still have access to that. It's in the top box, pulldown menu, "Public Msgs". In addition, you have access to Private Mgs, which you used to not have. You have access to Members and Subjects, which was standard in the old version. I believe "Board Descriptions" is new. You have more now.

"Many of us used the portfolio section and it has been removed. The quotes and charts that were on every thread have been removed. Do they show up for people who now pay more? How would I know?"

Nobody has portfolios at the current moment. There has been much discussion here about the "whys" and third-party costs of that matter. Quotes and Charts are still here. Have you looked for them? They are indeed available to you. Thus, my suggestion that you apparently don't really know what you have or don't have.

"Regardless of the 'value' one puts on each post, why should others -- who have not paid a dime -- be given equal treatment as those who paid."

With regards to Level 1 & 2 users, they certainly do not have equal access or feature availability. W/R/T grandfathered users, that was a gift-in-kind for building the site that gave you enough value to come here. We put in our belief, effort and support to make this fledgling thing happen for you. Still have to pay for premium features. And note that many of the grandfathereds have indeed paid the additional money to acquire that functionality, just like anybody else. Many "Level 10"s are now "Level 30"s.

Since I'm a former Level 10/now Level 30, how much would you like me to pay to Bob to make you feel like you got your money's worth? If I pay Bob $500, will that make you feel better about your own presence here?
