I think it makes an excellent point in that special-interest groups, or even scientists, are perfectly willing to entertain theoretical genetic explanations when it suits their pre-determined POVs -- as with the "homosexual gene," which is surely conjectural and not established. Yet if anyone so much as mentioned genetics in connection, say, with race and intelligence, they would have to flee for their very lives.
Just like Creationists have to accept evolution as an established fact, like it or not, it seems to me that scientists have to force themselves to be open-minded to all hypotheses, no matter how unpalatable. |
