It makes sense, though, doesn't it? Turkey is the bridge between the Muslim and Christian worlds. It makes a lot of sense to try to bring Turkey into the E.U. to show the West wants to foster relationships with the East. In addition, you might have forgotten that Iraq is largely a land locked country with Turkey on it's border. We needed all the help we could get from Turkey to launch an invasion of Iraq.

I can see that you are lacking in the basics of strategy. If you think strategy is fantasy, then I must say I am glad that you aren't leading the country. We need people to lead who have long term vision and can think several moves ahead. I won't say Bush is the most brilliant man, but alot of people underestimate his own intelligence, just because he has that Texas twang. You made fun of it yourself. In addition, a lot of people forget that brilliant people are a dime a dozen on Bush's extended staff. Take a look at the credentials of Rice, Powell, Rumsfeld, Cheney, Armstrong, Franks, Rove, etc.

Most of those people's credentials would put yours and mine to shame. So be careful whose intelligence you impugn. Your own ignorance is showing.
