oh it certainly is...the corporate buyer is now ascendent
he can buy a DELL HP SUN or IBM box and run either the home brewed
OS if that makes sense, or LINUX, any of a multitude of brands will do. Or God forbid he may even run Windows on that box! Choices Choices!
Buying SPARC doesn't afford near the flexibility, in fact is the very definition of lock in. And, if you are the conservative, may get fired for wrongheadedness IT buyer, you don't want to be locked in to a money losing computer company do you? ;-)

Now, why such a hissy fit over IBM if its not important to get
Solaris sanctioned on an IBM box? ;-) The problem is that computer hardware is a commodity and those companies that don't have a biz
model to deal with that are.......
