Yes Mephisto that is right and it is only going to get worse IMO..
This evening for the first time , maybe ever, I seen an ad for the NATIONAL GUARD. And that indicates ONE thing, a lack of volunteers. The word is OUT, the NG goes to Iraq.... So they have to advertise with a good looking young woman saying, "I can be a soldier by day and go home at night" or something like that.. Yeah!.. not unless home is somewhere in Iraq.. :(
So volunteers for the NG are drying up, and after they have dried up completely comes the big 'D', Draft under another name, like "national service", for example, where ALL able-bodied are directed toward 'military training' for homeland defense..
Oh golly, here we go again..
