"Some combination of maturity and senility have left me with the ability to laugh off silliness (mostly)." Now that's funny. Who said there were no advantages to growing older? The newschool and belmont links aren't working. Do you have alternatives? I do not believe that the simplistic definition of capitalism is anywhere based in reality. The kind of capitalism that we see in the US is not based on LACK of government intervention (or organized intervention or societal intervention), it is DUE TO IT. Without the myriad of strong laws, regulation, enforcement and punishments that are in place, there would be consolidation of power and resources into the hands of a small number of individuals and organizations and robust capitalism would grind to a halt. Someone is going to have to explain how a supposedly communist country like China experiences 9% GDP growth and is on track to be the world's largest economy in 20 years.
