David, I'm more worried about all the oil being dug out of equatorial regions then burned, resulting in a massive shift of mass from the equator to nearer the poles. That has been slowing the Earth's rotation for a century.

That's sure to lead directly to an ice-age as the higher day time temperatures will lead to greater loss of heat and longer nights will lead to more snow-cover retention and greater reflectivity.

That process will push desert frontier forwards, resulting in even faster cooling [due to increased reflection compared with plant covered land and loss of heat due to radiation at night].
