They were all Rea. The so-called detractor aliases he created made arguments that he would then tear down in short order, giving the false appearance of a balanced discussion supporting in the end his own conclusions.

Lots of people do what you describe. Just ask Dobry; it was one of his specialites. God knows how many times we busted him.
