If I remember correctly, a recent article stated that China had already switched a substantial portion of its lending to the euro.

"China increased dollar reserves by $207bn (€159bn) in 2004, financing nearly a third of the US current account deficit, estimated at $650bn."

Geez, China wants to buy Unocal. What would it be like to have a creditor nation battle us for what's left of the world's energy supplies?

What a mess. We need smarter people in the government and all we get are incompetents and more incompetents singing to the same ideological tune regardless of the situation.
