HP Reorganization Would Give More Autonomy To Units
01.24.05, 9:14 AM ET

Standard & Poor's Equity Research reiterated a "hold" opinion on Hewlett-Packard (nyse: HPQ - news - people ), saying shares of the computer hardware company are fairly valued given operational challenges and recent execution misses. The research firm cited reports that Hewlett-Packard's board is considering a management reorganization under which Chairman and Chief Executive Carly Fiorina would relinquish some management responsibilities to three executives, giving them more autonomy over key operating units. "We believe these executives could include Anne Livermore, executive vice president of Technology Solutions; VJ Joshi, executive VP of Imaging and Printing; and potentially Mike Winkler, executive VP of Customer Solutions and Marketing," S&P Equity Research said. The research firm said Hewlett-Packard shares are currently trading below the peer average on a price-to-sales basis.
