Yes, in retrospect, being tried with Royer was a *huge* mistake. Royer's testimony about being disenfranchised with the FBI and longing to work for Elgindy so he could make the bucks Elgindy did just smacked of greed. Then Royer tries to intimidate the FBI agent he had used to get info after he left (hence the witness tampering charge), which smacks of a cover-up. Top that off with his cavalier attitude on the stand and you have painted a really bad picture about his and Elgindy's motives and relationship. Elgindy wasn't judged as the Elgindy we knew from SI; he was judged as Royer's partner in crime.
