I have to pardon some of the remarks that you perhaps made in ignorance that British forced democracy on India. Members of Indian Constituent assembly saw merits of democracy long before the independence to govern a country inhabited by so many disparate languages, cultures and religions. "partly rigid partly flexible" approach had been adopted in formation and amendments to the constitution. They borrowed the best of the ideas from American, Irish, British constitutions to frame in a way that was ideally suited for the country. Many countries saw India as something that would break within a year, some went to great lengths in TRYING to break India. So far India has survived such challenges and there has been progressive chaos ever since.
