The Elgindy you know online was a carefully crafted production from a very slick liar and con man, a virtual character created to serve a purpose. The "other" Elgindy was convicted of major felonies and will go to jail as a result, like he did before.

Elgindy wasn't judged as the Elgindy we knew from SI; he was judged as Royer's partner in crime.

Admitting you were conned is never easy, but folks need to learn from this example, IMHO. Even if you think Elgindy had some good motives, he crawled into bed with a corrupt FBI agent very willingly.

Now he has to pay, and so does his family. The latter part is very sad. The former is justice.

I said months ago that you don't mess around with the Justice Department like that and walk away easily. It was a stupid road to go down.
