In heterogeneous (diverse) groups people are more... interested in persuing innovative ideas.

This is something I can't quite seem to get my hands around. Some of the most innovative drugs for example have come from homogeneous countries like Sweden and Switzerland. Some of the least innovative manufacturing techniques come from the most diverse society, ours.
