[A donut business can make this kind of profit?]--"Krispy Kreme To Pay New CEO $760 An Hour"

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- Stephen Cooper isn't your average hourly employee. And neither is his pay rate.

Cooper is Krispy Kreme's new chief executive, and the company said he'll be paid $760 an hour, plus expenses. Cooper is a turnaround specialist who led Enron for almost three years.

Last week, Krispy Kreme forced out longtime CEO Scott Livengood and turned to Cooper to try to reverse its problems. The company faces sinking profits, a federal securities probe and allegations of corporate fraud.

If Cooper reverses Krispy Kreme's fortunes, his firm will be paid a "success fee" that is now being negotiated.

Cooper heads Kroll Zolfo Cooper LLC, a corporate recovery and advisory firm. He has about 30 years of experience in rehabilitating troubled businesses, including Polaroid and TWA.
