RFID plays into this "just-in-time" inventory as well. With RFID, WallMart does not have to pay for the inventory until it passes through the cash register. WallMart wants the vendor to own the in-store inventory. Once RFID is in place, the amount of money WallMart has in inventory can then be untilized for building more stores or whatever as opposed to having it tied up in shelf stock.

Also, the safety and timeliness of delivery of products becomes crucial in such an environment.
