If you're a non-resident, most Swiss Cantons exempt you from income tax.

But there is still the "in-lieu of service" military tax until some age like 58. Most Swiss go on the weekend training "camping trips" rather than pay the tax, but serving in another nation's military automatically voids your U.S. citizenship - if they find out.

I wonder if most people in the U.S. or elsewhere realize how well armed the Swiss are and how really different their culture is. Being a direct democracy, everyone just thinks differently. I don't think it's very obvious to casual visitors.
