Casema Selects Xybernaut Atigo Mobile/Wearable Computers for Customer Service and Field Technician Applications
FAIRFAX, Va. & AMSTERDAN, Netherlands, Jan 26, 2005 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Leading Cable Television Network Operator in Netherlands Purchases 120 Atigo Computers
Xybernaut Corporation (Nasdaq:XYBR), a leading developer of wearable/mobile computing solutions, today announced that Casema, one of the largest cable television network operators in the Netherlands, purchased 120 Xybernaut(R) Atigo(R) mobile/wearable computers.
This shipment, which represents an initial order for the customized computer devices, will be deployed by Casema for activities related to customer service support. The units will be deployed for use by field technicians as both stationary computer terminals when used in their vehicles and as mobile/wearable computers that can be taken from the vehicle when service technicians perform support tasks.
The Atigo deployment at Casema is being coordinated with close support from Axias - a Team Xybernaut(TM) value added reseller (VAR) working with Xybernaut to develop the market for mobile computing in the Netherlands.
Atigo products can be built-to-order to meet specific customer requirements. Similar to Atigo customers announced previously, Casema is taking advantage of customized Atigo features. These customization features include use of the customer's logo for branding, unique wearability accessories, enhanced power supply options and custom software configurations.
"The Casema order is another example of our current successes in the communications industry, which is just one of the fast-growing market segments for the Atigo product family," said Steven A. Newman, president and COO of Xybernaut. "Since first introducing Atigo, we have won major new customers in very different business sectors -- including retail, hospitality, customer services, government, military, homeland/security, emergency first responders, communications and transportation -- each demanding unique and customized mobile computing capabilities," Newman added. "One common element all of these customers required was a flexible and truly mobile computing environment. We firmly believe the Atigo is one of the most adaptable mobile devices as it can be tailored to meet specific needs of customers intent on boosting productivity of their mobile work forces."
This newest Atigo T product (named Atigo T/HB "High Bright") was developed by Xybernaut in direct response to specific customer demand from numerous industry sectors for lightweight mobile devices that can operate well in the field under adverse lighting conditions.
The Atigo T/HB features an 8.4-inch touch-screen enabled high-contract 800x600 SVGA resolutions display which provides excellent visibility in outdoor use. The Atigo T/HB measures 7.9x9.4 inches and weighs less than 1.9 pounds including battery. The internal rechargeable Lithium-ion battery has a companion (optional) hot-swappable external battery that more than doubles run-time to more than four hours under normal use.
Current Xybernaut customer organizations include Hilton Hotels, FedEx Express, CSX, MBF Clearing Corp. (member-company on the New York Mercantile Exchange -- NYMEX), Flight Deck Resources, U.S. Department of Defense (all armed forces branches), U.S. Department of Justice, numerous first responder communities and many others.
