Should Robert Byrd resign? Absolutely not. He is a great American. He is a patriot. I happen to agree with him, but even if I didn't agree with him, I should put my life on the line to allow him to present his views. This is very fundamental to democracy. The same with Zell Miller. I think he is a jerk, but as long as his constituents re-elect him, we have to allow him to express his views. Dr. Summers however, is not really expressing his political views - (politically he is a Clintonite, I believe). Politically I am in his corner. But this is science that he is talking about. He is insinuating scientific gobbledigook. He was not thinking.
