Nevertheless, it appears that Intel's game is to make dual core available for everyone at moderate pricing, and the simplistic "We give you two CPU's, they give you one" pitch may actually succeed in the marketplace, despite its marginal performance benefits. If this caught on, and AMD felt they needed to respond in kind, the potential for substantial market share gains from their planned capacity expansion would be sharply reduced.
