It was her applause to which I reacted, not that particular post of your, which, although not up to your usual standard of discourse, didn't not warrant so much negative attention. I'm sorry for that.

Apology unnecessary, I was still trying to figure out how CB and I got off on the wrong foot over the race/ethnic debate. Touchy subject with her.

I had basically decided (after a discussion with an expert) that we generally confuse the issue because historically most American blacks are ethnically similar (west African in origin). He said there may be situations triggered by black, white or brown, but generally its more likely to be ethnic sub-populations - acadian french, west africans, irish, eastern european jews etc. Ethnic diseases are genetic and skin, hair and eye color are just 3 of many possible markers.

My response on that subject was hijacked back to the speech debate and I reacted to the Summer/Byrd contrast.

So here we are :-)
