"But my bigger mistake was in opening the door to this tangential google spree. It has allowed Grainne to continue to evade the real question - how do policies of past administrations, however wrong they may seem in retrospect, translate into proof that George W. Bush's Iraq policy is wrong now? They don't."

Republican and Democratic administrations have used all of the tools of the CIA for decades in dirty tricks all over the world, to support American interests. I am not blaming the Bush administration for all that. I do think Americans should be more aware of all the incredibly evil, dirty things its government is involved in. America is not the incredibly pure land of freedom that most people believe it is.

I do believe the Bush administration has been less than candid about its role in the rise of Saddam Hussein, and that it has indeed demonized him in order to get public and congressional support for its war in Iraq, which I believe has trampled on human rights and changed the way the U.S. is viewed abroad. Since this threatens our security, I think it is a very important point. I think Bush's failed policies have actually created a lot more terrorists than we were dealing with originally. I think that basically this is a very dishonest administration. I hope that we end up with a democratic Iraq, but it is not clear at this time that we will.

I am really busy now, but perhaps at some point I will google some revealing articles about Bush's wrong Iraq policy!!!
