re: Fundamentalist Islamists today are similar to the KKK in the 1950's. They are very much a minority, are an embarrassment to the average Muslim, and they are significant only in areas where the normal way of life is threatened by powerful outside forces (Afghanistan, Iraq, Israel).

Well said. It's nice to hear a small, knowledgeable voice of reason when the prejudice of the hysterical are drowning out logic.
