I lived in Germany during the Reagan time. All of those negative American and US President sentiments described by Friedman were equally true back then. Many of my friends incl. those who vote CDU expressed their opinion, that Sovjet Union was less evil than Cowboy reagan and his potential war mongers driving Our World to the brink of a WW III. All of that does not need an Iraq war or a George W. in office but only a strong stance from any GOP president. The peace loving Sovjets have now been replaced by the potentially peace loving Islamists. taro
