I believe your reading a bit more into those summaries. It seemed pretty clear to me that unless a block of stock at a discount was provided, the short attack would continue.

So you're saying that it's common practice for shorts to get discounted shares or free shares to call off their attack? And of course by attack, I don't just mean the actual act of shorting. The message board attack by guru and followers pretty much stopped at that point. And so did the threats of SEC action, etc.

Again, imagine if a tout answered as you have posted. You'd be lollisssimo'ing all over the place.
