i think i read in the WSJ that they expected like 5000 through attrition. but in the long run, i think the writing's on the wall for the RBOCs. after switching to VOIP, and paying less than half, and having superior service through Vonage, i can't see why anyone would stay with RBOC service if they have a choice.

it will probably take five or ten years, but i suspect VOIP residential service will become as common as cable TV and cellphones.
