to ascribe MSFT success to crime is silly, insulting, pathetic and denigrates a great achievement. It's just good old fashioned envy, one of the seven deadly sins.

Life is very complex. We tend to over simplify. It is either very good or very bad.

Microsoft is undeniably successful. There must have been some things that Bill Gates did that was pure genius.

However, it is not anything that I can see. The genius stuff must all be not visible from the outside.

Bill Gates did nothing to develop DOS. Did he know what the outcome was going to be when he went out and bought it? Did he know that IBM couldn't or wouldn't develop a competing product?

Word processing, spread sheets, and GUI were all pretty much developed before Gates got into it.

I was exchanging insults on SI here just a few months after Bill Gates was persuaded to take a look at the Internet. A lot of us had already been using the Internet in other applications long before Bill Gates even heard of the Internet.

As for Google, I don't understand it either. I thought Alta Vista was here way before.

Maybe it's just me. I don't get it.
